We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
• Profile and pet data: pet names, species, breeds, photos, feeding schedules, medication notes, and food inventory you choose to record.
• Payment information: billing details processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
• Support communications: messages, attachments, and feedback you send us.

Information collected automatically

• Device and feeding events: timestamped feeding logs, the household member who logged a feeding, and device status (connectivity, firmware version, serial number).
• Usage and diagnostic data: app interactions, IP address, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from IP for security and analytics.
• Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in and understand how the Services are used (see Section 8).

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Services.
• Sync feeding events across your household so no pet is fed twice.
• Send feeding reminders, alerts, and account notifications.
• Process subscriptions, payments, and orders.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• Improve and develop features, and monitor performance and security.
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
• Comply with legal obligations.

Where required by law, we rely on lawful bases including your consent, performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Within your household: feeding logs and pet data are visible to members you invite to share a device or pet.
• Service providers: trusted vendors that help us operate the Services (e.g., cloud hosting, Stripe for payments, SMS/email delivery, shipment tracking), bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
• Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of JustFed, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. After account deletion, we remove or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Feeding logs may be retained in aggregated, de-identified form for analytics.

5. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest, token-based authentication (JWT), optional multi-factor authentication, access controls, and regular monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (note: we do not sell your data), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

7. International Data Transfers

We may process and store your information in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
